The Lions Club of West Chicago The Lions Club of West Chicago was founded on December 14, 1960. The club had 25 charter members and there´s still one active charter member today.
The first meetings were held in the old American Legion building on Washington Street. After the building burned the meeting place was moved to The Turner Junction Restaurant on Main Street. In 1962 the club moved it´s meetings to the Methodist Church on Church Street and have remained there ever since. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of the month at noon. Lunch is served, some business is conducted and a program of interest to the members is presented. These programs will consist of speakers from city, county and state government, local schools, sports, local industry and general subjects such as; financial information, health, places of interest and more. We also have a number of zone and regional lions attend the meetings to keep us up—to—date on Lion activities at the zone and state level. The club currently has 50 members. The membership dues of The West Chicago Lions Club are $70.00 per quarter. Your dues provide you with the following benefits:
The Lions Club of West Chicago has a few social events during the year. These events offer an opportunity for members to invite spouses and friends and share in our fellowship. The social functions consist of The Christmas Party, and The Installation Dinner. Fund raising is an important part of our club´s activities. In addition to the well known Lions Candy Day fund raising event in October we hold very successful Pancake Breakfasts in the spring and fall, and provide volunteer help for the West Chicago National Night Out in August. |
